The Restylane family of injectables (www.restylane.com/consumer/), Juvederm product line (includes Voluma) (www.juvedermusa.com/), Radiesse, and Sculptra are non-permanent soft tissue fillers that can be used to help fill out wrinkles and other soft tissue irregularities in and around the face.  They are composed of a natural occurring substance and usually last anywhere from 6 months to 2-3 years.  They can be utilized to fill out wrinkles, the folds between the nose and cheeks, accentuate the lips, fill out the hollow areas under the eyes, enhance the overall contours of the cheeks, and provide a smoother appearance to areas.

The process of receiving an injectable dermal filler involves an injection of the substance into varying levels of the skin or deeper tissues depending on the degree of correction needed.  This can be done both with or without an injection of local anesthesia prior to the process.

Mild bruising and swelling can occur after injection.  Icepacks to the injected areas for a few hours after helps to prevent bruising and swelling.
